External provision of landscaped grounds, resin paving to give residents excellent outdoor amenities.

Mechanical, electrical, full intruder and nurse call systems have been provided.

There is also a provision of fully equipped community centre which serves the needs of all residents, surrounded by fully landscaped grounds and water features.

The works comprised of site remediation, demolition of existing properties coupled with asbestos removal.

Phase 1 was the provision of a 72 bed care home with full club house facilities. Phase 2 followed completion of Phase 1 with the decanting of the existing building into the new home enabling demolition of the original Bedford Charter House. This allowed for the construction of 42 serviced extra-care apartments, day space / lounges and assisted bathrooms being spread over 3 floors.

Both phases were of traditional construction, brick and block and rendered panels, PCC floors and stairs, trussed rafter roof design, UPVC windows and doors and aluminium curtain walling feature entrance.
